Well, Liverpool lost yesterday 2-1 to AC Milan in the CL Final. In a game dominated by Liverpool, it showed that you can be the better team and still lose. All credit to AC Milan however, they played well and took their 2 opportunities well. I'm not as upset as I would usually be though. If you look back, we beat Barcelona, we beat Chelsea, we made quite a bit of coin too on this to spend as well.
Rafa Benitez has been given 100 million pounds to overhaul Liverpool to make them a contender for the title next year. Champions League will be a target, but the Premiership will be the main focus. Names like Eto'o, David Villa and Michael Owen have been circulating again. Meanwhile, Rafa has started to get rid of some of the not so good players on the team. Zenden has been given the green light to leave and Mark Gonzalez has also completed a deal to Spain. With more to come it looks like exciting times for Liverpool. Steven Gerrard is among 4 others that are signing new contracts, his in particular will make him the highest paid player in the Premier league.(and people say hes not good)
In the words of Stevie G, we gotta take this loss on the chin and move on. There are many positives to take out of last night. The fact we could dominate a team like AC Milan, the fact that we can beat any team in Europe that is put in our way. The team is strong, we just need to improve in the domestic league. All in good time!

The ability to finish is clearly a skill set in which Liverpool is lacking since every time Liverpool loses, they always seem to "outplay" their opponent.
I'd also like to point out a certain boxing match that was nicknamed the Rumble in the Jungle. In this match, Muhammed Ali looked to be getting outclassed and overmatched by George Foreman.....except at the end, when it mattered, Ali found his groove and finished off Foreman like it ain't no thing.
I'm not sure you understand soccer, but you can dominate and still lose. It's called bad luck. The fact is, and even Milan admitted, Liverpool dominated, deserved more from the game, but came out losers in the end. Its football, it happens.
The important thing is to build on the loss and realize we did all we could to win, but didn't get the breaks we needed. Territorial advantage was something like 65/35 for Liverpool, and the 13 to 5 shots in favor of Liverpool also helps this debate.
Dominance doesn't always result in victory, but the better team on the night was Liverpool. The winning team was Milan. What matters the most is that we can compete with the best, and knowing we were the better team, can go from there.
I guess we could also say that cheaters sometimes win. Milan were not supposed to even play in this years CL. They were caught in the match-fixing scandal. Uefa weren't harsh enough on any of the teams in Italy that were involved in my opinion. I guess cheaters can prosper.
This isn't an excuse, just pointing out a terrible flaw within the game.
Brad has a point Scott. There is no question that Liverpool dominates the middle of the field, they also defend well. But when it comes to finishing attacks, they are lacking. With guys like Gerrard and Risse who can nail the ball from far away, they do show skill. But those are few and far between. What they need is a quality striker who's only job is to receive and score. Much like Henry, who is the complete striker package. lol.
Maybe he is the complete striker, but thats all he can do. I know we need a striker, and now we have the money to compete with the best teams. Making the complete team takes time and investment, and a good manager, and Liverpool possess all of that now. It will be exciting.

I agree...Drogba is like the Brendan Shanahan of soccer. He might not be the best at moving the ball down the field or anything, but he knows his role and has a nose for finding the back of the net.
To be fair I think Crouch is a finisher, but for some reason Benitez keeps him on the bench.
Maybe his height gets in the way of Gerrards dubious tee shots from midfield.
You guys talk to much about things you know nothing about.
Scott, even if I don't regularily watch the sport I can see talent (Drogba) and the gaping lack thereof (Gerrard) when I see it.
