Oh and the Gerrard Goal, cuz you know, It's Gerrard

The Goal of the Weekend

Every Monday i will try to find a video of the goal of the weekend, my choice for this week was the stunner from Nicolas Anelka. This goal gave bolton the lead and ultimately the win in their 3-1 victory over Arsenal. Enjoy!

Premiership Weekend Review

Another week has come and gone in the EPL, and good things have happened for once. Liverpool won, and Steven Gerrard scored the winner, 2 birds with one stone there. (I guess the fear of Yakubu faded away) The Americans and the Russians tied, errr.. Manchester United and Chelsea. And some nice upsets like Reading winning again, which isnt much of an upset anymore, and Arsenal falling 3-1 to Bolton, but take one look at Nicolas Anelka's goal and ull know why they lost. Heres the scores for the weekend that was.

Sun - 26 Nov 06

Man Utd 1 1 Chelsea

Champions League Match Day 5 Review

Here is the wrapup on Matchday 5 in the Champions League

Tuesdays Results:

Group E :

Steaua Bucharest 1-1 Dinamo Kiev ( Nicolae Dica / Florin Cernat)

The Romanian side are now assured of a spot in the UEFA CUP. Both teams have missed out of qualifying for the last 16.

Real Madrid 2-2 Lyon ( John Carew, Malouda / Mahamadou Diarra,Ruud Van Nistelrooy)

Lyon survive a late Madrid onslaught to return home with a point. Gregory Coupet’s last minute penalty save ensures that Lyon top Group E

Group F :

Celtic 1-0 Manchester United (Shunsuke Nakamura)

Late drama at Celtic Park as a Nakamura free kick and a Saha penalty miss send Celtic into the knockout stages of the Champions League for the first time. United now need to avoid defeat against Benfica, the same team which knocked them out of last season’s Champions League.

Benfica 3-1 Fc Copenhagen ( Leo, Fabrizio Miccoli *2 / Marcus Allback)

A brilliant first half performance from the Portuguese side keeps their hopes alive, and they must now beat United to move into the knockout stages.

Group G:

CSKA Moscow 0-2 Porto ( Ricardo Quaresma, Lucho Gonzalez)

A shock win for Porto. CSKA concede goals for the first time in the competition in the absence of Sergei Ignashevich, and now need a win against Hamburg to confirm their progress.

Arsenal 3-1 Hamburg ( Van Persie, Eboue, Baptista / Van der Vaart)

Another game whose result was decided in the last 10 minutes . Arsenal now need to avoid defeat to Porto to progress.

Group H:

Lille 2-2 Anderlecht ( Odemwingie, Fauvergue / Mbo Mpenza*2)

Anderlecht have no chances of qualifying, while Lille now need to beat Milan.

AEK 1-0 AC Milan ( Julio Cesar)

Milan are now effectively guaranteed top spot in Group E because of Lille’s draw.
Here is the free kick from Shunsuke Nakamura which gave Celtic all three points.

Wednesdays Results:

Group A

Werder Bremen 1-0 Chelsea ( Mertesacker)

A stunning upset that means nothing really, Chelsea advance, and Bremen need a win against defending Champion Barcelona to secure Qualification.

Levski 0-2 Barcelona ( Giuly, Iniesta)

A must-needed win from the Catalan Giants, and still they need a win on matchday six against Werder Bremen to avoid making history.

Group B

Spartak Moskva 2-2 Bayern Munich ( Kalynychenko, Kováč / Pizarro *2)

Spartak gained a point that is useless now. Bayern are off to the last 16.

Internazionale 1-0 FC Porto

A goal from Hernan Crespo secured Inter's place in the last 16. FORZA INTER!!!!

Group C

Bordeaux 3-1 Galatasaray ( Alonso, Laslandes, Faubert / Inamoto)

This game was to a game to get out of the doghouse, and to play for Uefa Cup spot as well.

Liverpool 2-0 PSV ( Gerrard, Crouch)

Goals by Steven Gerrard and Peter Crouch Secured first place for Liverpool going in the last 16. It was a great game, dominated well by Liverpool. Staunch Defense and created chances earned Liverpool this win. Hopefully we can now reproduce this form in the league.

Group D

Valencia 2-0 Olympiakos ( Angulo, Morientes)

Valencia earned top place in group D with a well deserved win over Greek opponents Olympiakos. Morientes goal is his 5 in the competition and sees himself tied for the lead in goalscoring.

Shakhtar 1-0 Roma ( Marica)

A shocker here, Roma will now have to at least draw on Matchday six and hope for a Shakhtar draw or loss to advance.

Champions League Top Scorers as of the end of Matchday 5

Top scorers
5 Didier Drogba Chelsea
5 Kaká Milan
5 Fernando Morientes Valencia
4 Peter Crouch Liverpool
4 Claudio Pizarro Bayern
4 Ruud van Nistelrooy Real Madrid
3 Julio Cruz Internazionale

Stupidest Gamerscore Achievements

In my never ending pursuit to get a ridiculous gamerscore, and to show that i have not the littlest spec of a life, i have come across some really stupid achievements in Xbox 360 games. Achievemnets are basically points you get for investing your life, money, and selling your soul. In all seriousness i dont strive to have a good gamerscore, nor do i care what others have. I think the people with 20000+ gamescore points are either rich kids that cheat the system and buy there gamerscore, or fat kids that cannot move easily from the living room to the outside world, so they stay and do what any fat kid with no means mobility would do, PLAY GAMES.

In my travels i have come across some of the dumbest achievements ever, i mean seriously, game developers must not give a rats behind about this phenomenom. Anyways here are some of the dumbest achievements ive seen so far.

NBA Live 07
Online with 1,000 people
Be online when there are 1,000 people online at the same time 100 gamerscore

Im glad to see that there is no skill involved in playing sports games anymore.

Four users on one machine Play and finish a game with four users on the same machine (2 players on each team) 50 Gamerscore

What the heck, this would only be hard if u had no friends, and even then u could just use 4 controllers.

Viva Pinata
Master Romancer 20 Gamerscore
Become Master Romancer for 20 species

This one is more of a inside joke, just think little worms and 70's porn music.

NCAA College Hoops 2007
My Availability 20 Gamerscore
Set up your "My Availability" settings online.

OMG, this one requires you to, wait for it..................wah wah wee wah, TURN UR XBOX ON. GOOD JOB, HERES THE ORDER OF MERIT. Shoot Me

MADDEN 06
Ok All u have to do for this game is touch the button that turns on ur xbox and then stroke ur controller for about 5 mins, and then Bang, 1000 gamescore pops out.

NBA 2K6
See Madden 06

Saints Row
All you have to do for this one, is tilt your hat to the side, wear some baggy clothes and start saying weird words like what is up Dog, or Sup G. Sweet 1000 gamerscore.

All these games have been overlooked and they have no challenges at all except to smack ur controller for a few hours still it tells u its had enough of a beating and gives u the gamescore you want. Anyways, i hope developers make achievements actually feel like u achieved something one day.

PS3 Grill, Eat your heart out George Foreman!

Wow, just check this crap out, its brilliant.

http://news.teamxbox.com/xbox/12290/The-Real-GrillStation-3

Playstation 3, Im glad im gonna wait to get one.

This article was in the New York Times yesterday, im not biased towards any game machine, if its got good games ill play it and usually buy it, but this is not a good start for me on the PS3. I will still have to try one myself, but the article is interesting. Enjoy!

A Weekend Full of Quality Time With PlayStation 3
By SETH SCHIESEL
Published: November 20, 2006

Howard Stringer, you have a problem. Your company’s new video game system just isn’t that great.

The controller of Sony PlayStation 3 looks like earlier ones.

Ever since Mr. Stringer took the helm last year at Sony, the struggling if still formidable electronics giant, the world has been hearing about how the coming PlayStation 3 would save the company, or at least revitalize it. Even after Microsoft took the lead in the video-game wars a year ago with its innovative and powerful Xbox 360, Sony blithely insisted that the PS3 would leapfrog all competition to deliver an unsurpassed level of fun.

Put bluntly, Sony has failed to deliver on that promise.

Measured in megaflops, gigabytes and other technical benchmarks, the PlayStation 3 is certainly the world’s most powerful game console. It falls far short, however, of providing the world’s most engaging overall entertainment experience. There is a big difference, and Sony seems to have confused one for the other.

The PS3, which was introduced in North America on Friday with a hefty $599 price tag for the top version, certainly delivers gorgeous graphics. But they are not discernibly prettier than the Xbox 360’s. More important, the whole PlayStation 3 system is surprisingly clunky to use and simply does not provide many basic functions that users have come to expect, especially online.

I have spent more than 30 hours using the PlayStation 3 over the last week or so and may have played more different games on the system — 13 — than probably anyone outside of Sony itself. Sony did not activate the PS3’s online service until just before the Friday debut. Over the weekend a clear sense of disappointment with the PlayStation 3 emerged from many gamers.

“What’s weird is that the PS3 was originally supposed to come out in the spring, and here it came out in the fall, and it still doesn’t feel finished,” Christopher Grant, managing editor of Joystiq, one of the world’s biggest video-game blogs, said on the telephone Saturday night. “It’s really not the all-star showing they should have had at launch. Sony is playing catch-up in a lot of ways now, not just in terms of sales but in terms of the basic functionality and usability of the system.”

Sadly for Sony, the best way to explain how the PlayStation 3 falls short is to explain how different it is to use than its main competition, Xbox 360. When I reviewed the 360 last year, I wrote: “Twelve minutes after opening the box, I had created my nickname, was in a game of Quake 4 and thought, ‘This can’t be this easy.’ ”

I never felt that way using the PlayStation 3. With the PS3, 12 minutes after opening the box I realized that Sony inexplicably does not include cables to connect the machine to a high-definition television. Keep in mind that one of Sony’s main selling points has been that the PS3 plays Blu-Ray high-definition movie discs. But high-definiton cables? Sold separately. The Xbox 360, by contrast, ships with one cable that can connect to either a standard or high-definition set.

Then, before you are even using the PS3, you have to connect the “wireless” controller to the base unit with a USB cable so they can recognize each other. If you bring your PS3 controller to a friend’s house, you’ll have to plug back in again. The 360’s wireless controllers are always just that, wireless.

If there is one thing one would expect Sony to get perfect, though, it would be music. Wrong. Sure, you can plug in your digital music player and the PS3 will play the tunes. But as soon as you go into a game, the music stops. By contrast, one of the things I’ve always enjoyed most on the Xbox 360 is being able to listen to my own music while playing Pebble Beach or driving my virtual Ferrari. Doesn’t seem too complicated, but the PS3 can’t do it.

In that sense it often feels as if the PlayStation 3 can’t walk and chew bubble gum at the same time. In the PS3’s online store (which feels like a slow Web page) you can access movie trailers and trial versions of new games, but when you actually download the 600-megabyte files, you’ll be stuck watching a progress bar crawl across the screen for 20 or 40 minutes. Astonishingly, you can’t download in the background while you go do something that’s more fun (like play a game). On the Xbox 360, not only are files downloaded seamlessly in the background, but you can also shut off the machine, turn it on later, and the download will resume automatically.

The PS3’s whole online experience feels tacked-on and unpolished. On the Xbox 360 each user has a single unified friends list, so you can track your friends and communicate with them easily, no matter what game you are in. On the PlayStation 3 most games have their own separate friends list and some have no friends function at all. There is a master list as well, but in order to communicate with anyone on it, you have to quit the game you are playing.

There are some high points. The multi-player battles in Resistance: Fall of Man are excellent. The arcade-style action in the downloadable Blast Factor is suitably frantic.

But the list of the PS3’s disappointments remains, from its undersupported voice chat to its maddening cellphone-like text messaging system. (In frustration I ended up plugging in a USB keyboard.) Overall, Sony seems to have put a lot of effort into cramming as much silicon horsepower under the hood as possible but to have forgotten that all the transistors in the world can’t make someone smile.

And so it is a bit of a shock to realize that on the video game front Microsoft and Sony are moving in exactly the opposite directions one might expect given their roots. Microsoft, the prototypical PC company, has made the Xbox 360 into a powerful but intuitive, welcoming, people-friendly system. Sony’s PlayStation 3, on the other hand, often feels like a brawny but somewhat recalcitrant specialized computer. (Sony is even telling users to wait for future software patches to fix some of the PS3’s deficiencies.) The thing is, if people want to use a computer, they’ll use a computer.

Through the decades of the Walkman and the Trinitron television, Sony was renowned as the global master of easy-to-use, seamlessly powerful consumer electronics. But recently Sony seems to have lost its way, first in digital music players, in which it ceded the ergonomic high ground to Apple’s iPod, and now in home-game consoles. For now Sony’s technologists seem to have won out over the people who study fun.

As a practical matter, given the limited quantities Sony has been able to manufacture, the PlayStation 3 will surely remain sold out throughout the holiday season. If you can’t find one, don’t fret. Sony still has a lot of work to do. As Mr. Grant of Joystiq put it: “Maybe in six months it’ll be finished. Maybe by next fall I’ll be able to do all the cool stuff. I’m still kind of waiting.”

A few things to ponder, or just laugh at

Some ponderisms i guess they are called, these were kinda funny i thought so enjoy,

Life is sexually transmitted.

Health is merely the slowest possible rate at which one can die.

Health nuts are going to feel stupid someday, lying in hospitals
dying of nothing.

If Jimmy cracks corn and no one cares, why is there a song about him?

A post about Friends, Poker, and Beer.

Jagshemesh,

Note to everyone out there, Moxies house beer, Big Life is horrible, stick to w/e u like now, cuz that stuff is awful. Lately life has been hectic, my life is changing for the better i guess you could say, but things have been a little strange. Liverpool has not been doing so well in the premiership thanks largely in part to the inability of highly paid players to do their jobs that they are paid highly for. Make sense, i dont care really, theres no excuse for the 0 away goals this season.

So to take my mind of my liverpool problems and others as well i have decided to take up drinking.....well not in that way, and it probably wont get my mind off of anything, especially becuase one of my favorite beers, Carlsberg, is liverpools #1 sponsor, but oh well im going for it. I started to drink beer again after a long hiatus. Ive realized through friends that drinking casually isnt a big deal. I dont think God ever really intended for Beer, i mean wine fine, but Beer im not so sure, maybe just not in the capacity it is today. Ive had many friends fall victim to the bottle, and as i choose to turn away from that stuff after a few dabbles myself, i gained a significant bias after these experiences against such activities.

Over the past year ive gained a few new friends, who, in a strange twist of everything i told was wrong, play POKER (Gambling FTW) and drink beer. And to top it all off, these friends are christians too, and to be able to do things i like doing in fellowship with other christians is awesome.

Lately ive been rethinking life in general, and trying to repair some of the shat that has happened in my life. I've never been one to take community seriously, i always had this perception that community was for people with problems. The funny thing was i was right, and now i realize that community and being in community with others is the best thing that has happened to me since that night on May 25th, 2005. (Liverpool's win in the Champions league Final, comming back from 3-0 down to with 4-2 on penalties.....getting carried away agian) But seriously, as i deal with crap in my life, its good to know there are people out there to help you through things.

Watch this video, its from a Liverpool Game in England, which also happens to be my favorite my favorite Football(Soccer) Club. The song they are singing has been sung for more than 40 years. The song is by Gerry Marsden and the Pacemakers, and is called You Will Never Walk Alone. It is played before the start every Liverpool home game, and is one of the most recognizable songs in european football. It has been covered by Elvis Presely and other artists. The lyrics to this song are as follows:

When you walk through a storm
Hold your head up high
And don't be afraid of the dark
At the end of the storm
Is a golden sky
And the sweet silver song of a lark

Walk on through the wind
Walk on through the rain
Tho' your dreams be tossed and blown
Walk on, walk on
With hope in your heart
And you'll never walk alone
You'll never walk alone

This song has gotten me through many rough times in my life, and the passion that is shared by these fans in these videos, is a passion that i wish i could see in my church on sunday. 45000 people willing to raise their hands, and "worship" their team without any shame. Its incredible, ive watched many a game of liverpool, and i still get goosebumps, and regularly find myself singing with the legions of fans while i sit on my couch and watch.

Time to get into this

I have alot to get off my chest sometimes, so im deciding to make a blog to do just that. I really have no idea what i am doing or why, but i feel that it would be cool to post random things that interest me, as well as share a little bit about my life. Enjoy. More posts to follow!
