World history
^^ Who is this guy, can anyone guess without reading my post, and when u do read the post will u even know then?
World history is probably my most favorite thing. Nothing can be absorbed more, read about more, and just when you think you know it all, theres more.
I could sit forever and read the conquests of Charlemagne and Attila the Hun. Read about the fall of the Roman Empire, or epic battles between the Carthaginians and the Romans. World history, a look at Gods Creation over the years, is the best thing that has ever happened. There is so much to learn, so much to look back on and see how these events changed the world. Imagine for a minute that there was never a Roman Empire, or no ancient Greeks. Would we still know the things we have learned from these people?
History has been the driving force of today, we learn from history, we take values, traditions, lessons and many other things from history. Recent events too, like 9/11, have taught us many things.
Not many people today that i talk to care too much about history. Most people i ask dont even know all the countries involved in WWII, or that Canada even was a major factor in the Great War. Heck, some people dont even know what the Great War was (World War I for those who dont). Its actually very sad. Remembrance Day has come and gone for another year, its been a month since then. I remember walking in Wal-mart a year ago on Nov. 11 and watching this old man, maybe 80 years old try to navigate the isle of people, only to be told by some ungrate selfish effing prick to watch where he was going when he acidentally bumped into him. I almost knocked that A-hole out, does that guy not realize the efforts this 80yr old guy gave to protect this selfish asses freedom? I believe the answer was no.
I was never more mad on that day, never. Nothing has pissed my up a wall more than that guy in the Wal-Mart. But Scott, its not ur concern, or Scott it doesnt matter, its over with. Screw that, its not over with. We have no respect for history and no respect for the people who shaped it. Wars that people fought thorughout history have gotten us to where we are today. No one should forget this, no one.
Ive had this ongoing argument that the people that have given their lives in war to protect others and their freedoms have been taken to heaven. Not many agree with me, but God said the greatest sacrifice is dying for your brothers. I dont care what anyone tells me either, until God tells me one day im wrong ill continue to think these men and women who gave their lives for me and my freedoms made it into heaven.
Anyways, my point in all of this is to remember history, and maybe learn a bit of it. Contrary to popular belief, history is cool, its entertaining and informative, and you actually feel like you learned something useful, not who made it to the next round in American Idol (like a give a rats backside). People like Charlemange, Napoleon, Stalin, Hitler and the lot, they made our world what it is today, or at least shaped it. So today go read something useful, not the latest Britney spears slept with 40 men at once crap, or Angelina is adopting 52 more kids. Read something that actually matters, something with substance laced with fact. You may just feel smarter!

Reckanize! History is vastly underrated. One of my most favorite things to do as a young tot was browse through our encyclopedia set and learn about the things that happened in the past that have shaped our world into what it is today.
History is our greatest teacher, so I aslo find it annoying when others take history to be boring and irrelevant.
And I agree with you on the total lack of respect our veterans get. I could not fathom dropping everything I have going in my life to go overseas to fight for and protect the many nations that were being conquered at the time. It took truely brave men and women to go and do that, a bravery that most people from our generation, myself included, sorely lack.
